TapeType is a productivity tool, not a surveillance tool. Here's exactly how we handle your data.
Everything you create in TapeType โ shortcuts, templates, variables โ is stored privately under your account. Nothing is shared with other users unless you explicitly add it to a shared Team folder.
TapeType does not sell, rent, or share your personal data or your snippet content with advertisers, data brokers, or third parties. Your data is used only to provide and improve the TapeType service.
The TapeType Chrome extension only activates when you type a recognized shortcut prefix. It does not record, store, or transmit raw keystrokes from any page you visit.
TapeType requests only the permissions it needs: access to active tab text fields to perform expansions. It does not read page content, form data, or passwords. You can review all permissions in the Chrome extension settings at any time.
Shared team templates are visible only to workspace members you explicitly invite. Removing a member revokes their access immediately. Team admins can audit and manage shared snippets at any time.
All data transmitted between your browser and TapeType servers is encrypted via TLS 1.2+. Account passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and are never stored in plain text.
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your dashboard settings. Deletion is permanent and irreversible within 30 days.
