Privacy Policy

TL;DR
Your snippets are stored locally on your device by default. We never read your keystrokes outside of a saved shortcut. We don't sell your data. Ever.
1. What We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. If you use Google Sign-In, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google. We also collect basic usage analytics (e.g., number of snippets created, expansion count) to improve the product. We do not collect or log the content you type outside of saved shortcuts.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to provide, maintain, and improve the Service — including syncing your snippets across devices when team sync is enabled, sending transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset), and responding to support requests. We do not use your data for advertising.
3. Local Storage First
By default, all snippets are stored locally in your browser. They never leave your device unless you explicitly enable cross-device sync. When sync is enabled, snippets are encrypted end-to-end before transmission and at rest on our servers.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share data with trusted service providers (e.g., cloud hosting, email delivery) who are contractually bound to protect it. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
5. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. You can clear cookies at any time via your browser settings, though this will sign you out of your account.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion is permanent and completed within 30 days.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS, encryption at rest for synced data, and regular security audits. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
TapeType is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days in advance. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
